Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) has secured a 139-MW order from Vitol to repower a project owned by the energy and commodities trader in Pennsylvania.

Vestas said today it will provide 68 units of its V110-2.0 MW turbine in 2.05 MW operating mode, with delivery scheduled to begin in the second quarter of 2024. The turbines, expected to be commissioned in the fourth quarter of 2024, will replace the project’s existing Senvion MM92-2.05 MW wind turbines.

The contract covers supply, delivery and commissioning of the machines, as well as a 20-year service agreement.

Laura Beane, President of Vestas North America, said the project is another collaboration between Vestas and Vitol to extend the production lifespan of aging fleets with customised solutions for specific site conditions.

Vitol announced a deal to acquire 244.4 MW of wind farms in Pennsylvania in April 2022.
