August 29 (Renewables Now) – Indian renewables company Azure Power Global Ltd (NYSE:AZRE) has appointed Rupesh Agarwal to serve as its acting CEO after Harsh Shah unexpectedly resigned from the leadership position.

Agarwal joined Azure Power earlier this month as chief strategy & commercial officer after previously serving as a consultant to the company’s board, Azure Power said. The executive “brings over two decades of leadership experience in asset development and strategy consulting, advising leading utilities and private equity investors on developing and managing their cleantech investments,” the company’s statement reads.

The appointment of a new permanent CEO will be announced in due course, Azure Power added.

Shah resigned today after less than three months as the CEO, citing “unforeseen circumstances and matters beyond [his] control”.

The announcement of Agarwal’s new position in Azure Power was accompanied by a series of updates, including the company’s statement that it is unable to give a firm timeline for the filing of its annual report on Form 20-F for the financial year ended March 31, 2022. It said that it is working with its advisers to close the annual accounts.
