Aira Group, a Swedish clean energy solutions provider, has set foot in Italy by introducing its services into the country, seeking to supply one million homes over the next decade.
Among Aira’s offerings are heat pumps, solar panels, battery storage and electricity tariffs. According to a statement on Tuesday, its goal is to hire 4,000 employees for its Italian business over 10 years and help local households cut their costs and carbon footprint. Currently, some 150 workers are part of the Italian team.
Stockholm-based Aira’s solutions will be initially available in six regions – Lombardy, Piedmont, Lazio, Marche, Abruzzo and Umbria.
Commenting on the Italian market, Aira pointed out that the electrification of heating will have a critical role in the country’s decarbonisation efforts given that 67% of the households still use fossil fuels for heating. The heat pump penetration rate, meanwhile, is only 6%, it added.
Set up by Vargas Holding, Aira is backed by climate and innovation investors including Altor, Collaborative Fund, Creades, Kinnevik, and Lingotto.
