Swedish solar company Svea Solar has signed a solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with Arla, under which it will provide the European dairy cooperative with 100 GWh of power a year at a fixed price.

Announcing the deal on Monday, Svea Solar described it as Sweden’s largest ever solar PPA.

The contract will cover about half of Arla’s energy needs for its Swedish dairy operations. It is the latest PPA for Arla, which in July contracted two solar parks in the UK.

“With this substantial agreement, we will have the opportunity to further accelerate our commitment to solar energy and build even more large-scale solar parks throughout the country,” commented Pontus Skog, Head of Development Solar Parks at Svea Solar.

Svea Solar said that the contract, which pertains to electrical grid area 3 (SE3), will allow it to increase production capacity where it is most needed. It did not elaborate on contract details.
