German renewable energy developer Sowitec said on Thursday it has sold a 21-MW wind park, which is currently under development in its home market, to public utility company Stadtwerke Tuebingen.
Swt and its renewable energy subsidiary Ecowerk, which secured half of the shares in the project company in 2022, have now also acquired the remaining 50%.
The Hohfleck wind park will be located in the forest area between the municipalities of Sonnenbuehl and Engstingen and will be the first swt-owned wind park in the region. It will consist of five Vestas V126-3.6 MW turbines capable of producing enough electricity to meet the needs of over 10,000 households and to save 25,500 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
Construction works are scheduled to begin in 2023. As agreed, Sowitec will coordinate the entire construction process and hand over the wind park to Ecowerk on a turnkey basis.
The transaction is in line with Sowitec’s strategy in Germany, where the company aims to develop at least 300 MW of total wind power and 200 MW of solar projects by 2028.
