June 20 (Renewables Now) – Japan has selected five solar photovoltaic (PV) projects totalling 128.94 MW in the latest tender with Pacifico Energy KK winning more than half of the allocated capacity.

Pacifico was successful with a 76.8-MW project, offering a tariff of JPY 9.86 (USD 0.073/EUR 0.070) per kWh, the Asian renewables developer said on Friday.

Pacifico noted that this is its first bid price below JPY 10 per kWh, representing a price level where a renewable energy levy is no longer required.

To be located in Yamaguchi prefecture, the solar park is set to commence operations in 2027.

In addition to Pacifico Energy, the winners in Japan’s 12th solar power tender include X-Elio19 LLC, AC19 LLC, JAG Energy Co Ltd and electronics and internet giant DMM.

Prices in the June round ranged from JPY 9.85 per kWh to JPY 9.9 per kWh.
