Danish clean energy group Ørsted A/S (CPH:ORSTED) on Monday announced the inauguration of the 28.8-MW Lisheen III wind farm in Ireland.
The facility’s entire output will be supplied to US technology group Meta Platforms Inc (NASDAQ:META) under a corporate power purchase agreement (PPA). The electricity will be fed into the national grid, with Meta buying the equivalent amount of renewable generation.

Lisheen III is located in County Kilkenny and County Laois next to the existing Lisheen I and II sites. The three phases have a combined capacity of 89 MW, making Lisheen the largest Irish wind farm in Ørsted’s fleet.
The new wind farm will help power Meta’s Irish operations, aiding the company in keeping its commitment of supporting its global operations with 100% renewable energy.
Ørsted said that corporate PPAs are one of the ways in which it finances new renewable projects. The Danish company added it has so far signed such contracts for a total of more than 6,000 MW.
The PPA for Lisheen III was announced in 2020. Ørsted subsequently acquired the Ireland and UK onshore wind business of Brookfield Renewable.
