June 17 (Renewables Now) – Orix Corp USA, part of Japanese financial services group Orix Corp (TYO:8591), this week said it has completed an equity investment in three anaerobic digestion projects in Iowa and South Dakota.
The projects, developed by Dynamic Renewables, will be co-located with local dairy producers. They are expected to turn more than 194 million gallons of dairy manure into renewable natural gas (RNG) a year, while removing 691,000 MMBtu of methane from the atmosphere.
The deal follows Orix USA’s investment last year in BC Organics Anaerobic Digestion Facility (BCO) in Wisconsin that will serve multiple local dairy producers. Due to be completed in late 2022, this facility is expected to remove 650,000 MMBtu of methane each year.
“As a firm with an ongoing commitment to sustainability, biofuel projects are a great fit for us due to their important role removing methane from the atmosphere,” said Neil Winward, head of strategic solutions in Orix USA’s Special Opportunities group.
