US community solar company Nautilus Solar Energy LLC thas acquired two community solar portfolios in Maryland with a combined capacity of 23 MW.

The portfolios include six projects located across the state that are expected to be operational by 2024. They add to the nearly 90 MW of operational and late-stage development projects that Nautilus already owns in Maryland.

Announcing the acquisition on Tuesday, Nautilus noted that Maryland recently became the latest state with a permanent community solar programme, which also involves a requirement at least 40% of solar capacity to be dedicated to low-to-moderate income customers.

Nautilus, owned by Power Sustainable, a unit of Power Corporation of Canada, operates and manages solar farms in 10 states. Earlier this month, the company announced a 28.7-MW acquisition in Delaware.
