Kent Plc said on Thursday it has secured a contract for the front-end engineering design (FEED) and with an option for an extension to the detailed design of wind turbine foundations for the Morgan and Mona offshore wind projects.
The projects, with a combined capacity of 3 GW, are being developed in the Irish Sea by BP Plc (LON:BP) and EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (ETR:EBK).
The award expands Kent’s relationships with the two developers after recently securing a contract on their Morven project.
The offshore wind engineering firm said it will design jacket foundations for 17 MW-24 MW turbines in water depth of 35 metres (115 ft).
The FEED is expected to take six months. It will include engineering design work that informs foundation selection, demonstrates feasibility and provides a robust design to manage project risk and engagement with fabrication and transport and installation (T&I) contractors, the company explained.
