Danish engineering consultancy K2 Management (K2M) has been appointed as lenders technical (LTA) adviser by German bank NORD/LB for the 86.8-MW Pajuperankangas onshore wind project in Finland.

The project reached financial close in September 2022, with its developer, ABO Wind, securing a debt package from NORD/LB to fund the construction and operation of the facility.

K2M unveiled its role on Tuesday. It has been engaged as the LTA during the financing process, starting its work in early 2022.

At present, the consultancy is actively engaged in construction monitoring, which involves supervising and inspecting the site, equipment and procedures to guarantee adherence to project specifications. This work will continue until the wind farm’s start-up, with an opportunity thereafter for extended participation in operations monitoring.

Located in the Northern Ostrobothnia province, the wind farm will consist of 14 Vestas wind turbines. The project is expected to come online in late 2023 or early 2024.

“Finland is continuing to progress in the field of onshore wind, with a promising pipeline of projects in the years ahead and significant growth potential given its high wind resource,” Diego Chernichero, senior consultant at K2M, said, adding that the contract with NORD/LB is a milestone for the firm as it expands in the Nordic market.
