Japanese renewable power producer Renova Inc (TYO:9519) announced today it has commenced operation of a 20.8-MW solar power plant in Hitoyoshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

The solar park is capable of generating around 22 million kWh, enough to meet the demand of some 6,000 households. The output will be sold at JPY 36 (USD 0.26/EUR 0.24) per kWh.

The facility was built by Hitoyoshi Solar GK, a company funded by Renova with all of its required investments coming from the Japanese renewables firm.

Renova noted this new asset is its 13th large-scale photovoltaic (PV) power station in which it has invested and has had an operational role.
