September 9 (Renewables Now) – Finnish renewable energy producer Ilmatar Energy Oy on Friday announced plans for another very large solar park in Sweden.

The company’s subsidiary Ilmatar Solar AB intends to construct a 550-MW solar power plant in the municipality of Motala in Ostergotland with the help of local consultancy Vinnergi AB. Ilmatar said in a statement that a land lease deal is already in place.

“We have already received a favourable initial estimate from Svenska kraftnat, Sweden’s TSO, and the permit process and electricity network issues are in full swing,” said Martin Ansell-Schultz, business developer at Vinnergi AB.

Upon completion, this solar park will be producing enough power to supply 32,000 households.

At the end of last month, Ilmatar also announced the signing of a land lease agreement for a 450-MW solar project in Tonnersjo, outside Halmstad in Halland county.
