December 22 (Renewables Now) – Nordic wind projects developer Eolus Vind AB (STO:EOLU-B) has taken possession of an 86-MW wind project in the early stages of development in Finland, planning to expand it further.
The scheme will create Eolus’ first onshore wind project in Poland, the company said on Tuesday without disclosing financial details about the purchase. The vendor is local engineering group Horizons Sp zoo.
To be built in southwestern Poland, the project is expected to become shovel-ready in 2028. The land leases currently in place are for an 86-MW wind farm, while Eolus’ intentions are to bring the overall size of the scheme to at least 100 MW.
Eolus and Horizons will jointly carry out the further development and construction of the plant. According to the statement, subsequent work depends on a law amendment related to the minimum distance of turbines from residential dwellings.
In March 2021, Eolus set up operations in Poland with plans to develop both onshore and offshore wind, as well as solar projects. Currently, its portfolio under development exceeds 1 GW, it said.
