April 8 (Renewables Now) – Amprion GmbH, one of four transmission system operators in Germany, this week said the public planning procedure has started for the section of the DolWin4 offshore wind connection that is in the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) of the North Sea.
This comes after Amprion submitted the planning approval documents to the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency in March 2021 and the authority has now finalised its checks for completeness.
“As we have submitted the documents for DolWin4 together with those for BorWin4, we expect the procedure to start this year as well. So our first offshore projects are on the right track,” said project manager Jan Wiemer.
The two 900-MW projects will connect offshore wind parks in the North Sea and are due to become operational in 2028 and 2029.
Amprion received planning approval for the DolWin4 coastal water section at the start of 2022.
Construction work on DolWin4 in the EEZ area, which includes the DolWin delta converter platform and about 26-kilometre (16 mile) cable system, is expected to start in 2025.
