Corio Generation, a portfolio company of Macquarie’s Green Investment Group (GIG), said it is reviving a dormant offshore wind project in Sweden under a new name.

Kattegatt Offshore, which is now called Vindpark Falkenberg, was acquired by GIG in late 2021. According to the announcement then, the project was anticipated to have an installed capacity of up to 260 MW.

The scheme is located off the coast of Falkenberg municipality, in the south-west county of Halland and is led by local firm Renewable Sweden, previously known as Wind Sweden, and Corio Generation.

The plans include extending and modifying the seven-year-old permit granted to Kattegatt Offshore.

The developers intend to expand the project to cater to the growing demand for renewable energy across Sweden. According to the announcement, the new project would consist of the already licensed Kattegatt Offshore and an optimised area to the south and west designated in the municipality’s master plan for energy production.
