Chile’s share of non-conventional renewables in total power production fell to 39% in February from 40.8% in January, Chilean national energy commission CNE said in its latest renewables report.
Non-conventional renewables in the country generated 2,540 GWh gross of electricity in the second month of the year, which represented a drop of 11.7% compared to January, but also an increase of 12.4% in annual terms.
Power production from all renewable energy sources, excluding large hydro, declined month-on-month. Conventional power plants also recorded lower production levels in February, down by 4.8% month-on-month to 3,978 GWh gross.
More details on non-conventional renewables follow in the table below:
Source: | Gross production in GWh: | month-on-month change: | year-on-year change: | Share in February: |
Biomass | 161 | -6.8% | -4.3% | 6.3% |
Wind | 715 | -12.6% | 5.4% | 28.1% |
Solar PV | 1,485 | -10.9% | 17.1% | 58.5% |
Solar CSP | 33 | -26% | N.A. | 1.30% |
Small run-of-river hydro | 116 | -17.7% | 8.7% | 4.6% |
Geothermal | 30 | -13.3% | -22.3% | 1.2% |
The total net installed non-conventional renewable energy capacity in Chile rose to 11,992 MW in February from 11,331 MW in January.
