July 29 (Renewables Now) – Spanish renewables developer Capital Energy has announced a pair of 49.5-MW wind farm projects it wants to see installed in the region of Castile and Leon, northwestern Spain.

The two projects are Hazapierna and Praderas Altas, which would be located in some of the least populous parts of Spain.

Capital Energy announced the projects after signing an agreement with the city council of Arcos de Jalon, committing to promote social and other initiatives in the area that are important to the local community. The high-voltage line that will export power generated by the wind farms will cross Arcos de Jalon and other towns in the region.

Capital Energy says it has over 2,800 MW of wind and close to 500 MW of solar projects in the works in Castile and Leon, calling the region “the key” for its renewables plans.
