British oil and gas major BP Plc (LON:BP) today said it has started construction of a 107-MW solar project in Ohio that has secured a power-purchase agreement (PPA) with Meta (NASDAQ:META).

The Arche Solar project, with a direct current (DC) capacity of 134 MW, is located in Fulton County. It was developed on behalf of BP by the group’s joint venture Lightsource bp, which is also handling construction.

The project supports BP’s aim to develop 20 GW of net renewable generating capacity by 2025 and 50 GW by 2030.

The facility will use equipment from US manufacturers, First Solar solar panels and Nextracker solar trackers. McCarthy Building Companies’ Renewable Energy & Storage team is acting as the main contractor.
