German utility EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (ETR:EBK) has secured a new power purchase agreement (PPA) in support of its 960-MW He Dreiht offshore wind farm project located in Germany’s North Sea waters.

The latest in the string of He Dreiht’s off-takers is Power and Air Condition Solution Management GmbH (PASM), a wholly owned unit of Deutsche Telekom AG (ETR:DTE). PASM procured electricity from a 100-MW portion of the future wind farm for a period of 15 years, EnBW said on Friday.

He Dreiht is a subsidy-free wind project located around 90 kilometres (55.9 miles) off the coast of the island of Borkum and some 110 kilometres west of Heligoland.

Construction of the wind farm is expected to commence in May 2024, with operations anticipated to begin by the end of 2025.

With its PPA in hand, PASM has joined other high-profile He Dreiht corporate customers, such as German railway company Deutsche Bahn AG, engineering and technology group Robert Bosch GmbH, specialty chemicals company Evonik Industries AG (ETR:EVK), steel producer Salzgitter AG (ETR:SZG) and the operator of the Frankfurt airport Fraport AG (ETR:FRA).
