Verbund Green Power Iberia, part of Austrian utility Verbund AG (VIE:VER), and Spanish renewables developer Capital Energy have commissioned a 39-MW wind farm in the region of Andalusia, southern Spain, the latter said on Thursday.

The wind farm in question is Loma de los Pinos, located in the town of Lebrija in Seville province. It features seven GE wind turbines capable of generating around 100 GWh of electricity per year.

Loma de los Pinos has a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) in place with Norwegian state-owned utility Statkraft AS, Capital Energy said.

Verbund owns a 70% stake in this and four other Capital Energy wind and solar projects in Spain. The ownership structure was established when the Austrian group acquired a 70% stake in a 171-MW wind and solar portfolio that Capital Energy developed.

The partners expect to commission two more wind farms from this package in Andalusia this year, the Spanish firm said.
