Japanese wind projects developer Eurus Energy Holdings Corp on Friday made a new announcement about the start of the dismantling of wind turbines at home, having already initiated such work at three other sites.
The company said in a statement it plans to replace the 43 MHI turbines that currently make the 42.9-MW Eurus Kamaishi Koiki wind farm in Iwate prefecture due to the old age of the equipment.
Also last week, Eurus began the initial removal of turbines at the 32.5-MW Eurus Iwaya and the 19.25-MW Eurus Shiraro wind farms in Aomori prefecture, as well as the 30-MW Eurus Nishime wind park in Akita.
All the wind farms are located in the northern region of the country and have been in operation for about 20 years.
Eurus noted it plans to replace the generators and other equipment as the area presents high wind resources.
