Gazelle Wind Power, a Dublin-based developer of a floating offshore wind platform, on Tuesday said it has partnered up with WAM Horizon to accelerate the development of a pilot project using Gazelle’s technology in Agucadoura, Portugal.

Gazelle expects WAM to provide it with strategic advisory to successfully implement the project. More details of the plans were not provided.

WAM Horizon, based in Portugal, is the holding company for investment management office WAM Investments. WAM Horizon’s chairman, Adelino Costa Matos, is also a non-executive director on Gazelle’s board. The firm’s management has offshore wind experience, including involvement in the 25-MW WindFloat Atlantic project, according to the announcement.

Gazelle says its lightweight, modular and scalable platform can reduce costs and use existing port infrastructure. The company expects Portugal to be a key destination for offshore wind given its ambition to install 10 GW by 2030.
