Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a unit of Indian electric utility Tata Power Co Ltd (BOM:500400), has won a bid to construct a 200-MW solar PV farm in Solapur in the state of Maharashtra.

The renewables developer said on Tuesday it had received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to move forward with the project. It said it had been awarded the project through competitive bidding, followed by a reverse e-auction.

The solar farm is due to be commissioned within 18 months from the date of execution of the power purchase agreement (PPA).

The win has enabled TPREL to grow its renewables portfolio to 6,503 MW. Of the total, 3,909 MW is installed capacity, divided between 2,981 MW of solar and 928 MW of wind power, with the remaining 2,594 MW being projects under various stages of implementation, TPREL said.
